No. 1 Seed Clemson Sweeps Florida State, 3-0

ORLANDO, Fla. — The No. 1 seeded Clemson Tigers defeated Florida State 15-4, 15-5 and 15-8 to advance to the semi-finals on Saturday night at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL in the second match of the 1999 ACC Championships. With the win, Clemson improves to 30-1 while Florida State drops to 8-23.

Leading the Tigers to victory was senior outside hitter Alison Coday who knocked down a match high 21 kills and recorded a .556 hitting percentage. Assisting Coday on the night was freshman setter Jessi Betcher who tallied 47 assists in the three games.

For the Seminoles, middle hitter Aisha Thornton gathered 10 kills, two service aces and a .316 hitting percentage. Teammate Norisha Campbell was also noteable with 13 kills and four blocks.

The Tigers will await the victor of Friday’s Duke vs. Virginia match and will face the winner on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
