CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson University cross country standout Logan Morris is set to compete at the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships Saturday morning, which will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The sophomore is slated to run in the women’s championship 6K race at 11:45 a.m. (EST) at the Badgers’ Zimmer Championship Cross Country course.
Morris qualified individually for the national race after placing sixth overall at the 2018 NCAA Southeast Regional meet last weekend in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where she achieved a personal best time of 20:01.4 on the 6K course. Morris’s sixth-place finish among 245 competitors earned her All-Region honors, also making her the 22nd All-Region recipient in Clemson history.
“Everything finally fell into place today and our work this season showed on the course,” said Morris after the race. “I’ve been dreaming of making cross country nationals since last season, so it’s amazing to live this out.”
Saturday’s meet marks the second time this season in which Morris will have competed at the Zimmer Cross Country Course. On Oct. 13, Morris led the Clemson women at Wisconsin’s Pre-Nationals meet, where she was just 20 seconds shy of her then personal best.
This may be Morris’s first NCAA cross country championships, but she is no stranger to the big stage having qualified and competed in the 3000m steeplechase at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which were held in Eugene, Oregon this past June.
