CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson student-athlete Tessa Miller was named the recipient of the 2024 DI-AAA ADA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Thursday morning.
Student-athletes from all 98 Division I-AAA ADA member institutions are eligible for these prestigious academic awards. Nominees for the award are required to have a minimum of a 3.20 GPA on a 4.00 scale in their undergraduate studies and are required to either be a starter or an important reserve on their teams. Nominees are also required to have played in at least 50 percent of their team’s games throughout the season.
Miller, a 6’2” post player from Crossville, Tennessee, earned a 3.98 GPA while majoring in legal studies and minoring in business administration and corporate communication at Belmont. Miller has previously received All-Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete recognition on two different occasions. She has also been named to the CSC Academic All-District team and has been a recipient of the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award.
Last season as a starter for the Bruins, Miller played in all 35 of Belmont’s games and averaged 14.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game en route to earning All-MVC honors. In Belmont’s seven games against power-five competition last season – including games against Georgia, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Penn State, and Stanford – Miller averaged 14.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 60% from the floor. Miller scored at least 12 points in all seven of those contests.
Division I-AAA ADA institutions are those that don’t sponsor football and have basketball as their flagship programs.
