CLEMSON, SC – Brunson Miller improved his national seed time in the men’s 400 and Marlena Wesh won the women’s 400 on Saturday at the Alex Wilson Invitational at the University of Notre Dame. In addition, the Tigers improved their season-best in the women’s 4×400 relay.Miller posted a time of 46.23 in the final section of the 400 dash, finishing third place overall. He improved his national seed, which was 14th entering Saturday’s race. Miller, vying for his first career NCAA Championships bid after transferring to Clemson from The Citadel, should be in the top 10 after the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) performance list is updated.Wesh did not improve her seed time of 52.84, but ran 52.98 and was not passed by any sprinters from the Notre Dame meet. In fact, it was the fastest time among last chance qualifiers at both Arkansas and Virginia Tech. The top 16 individuals on the national performance list will be extended NCAA bids, and Wesh is currently within that distinction.

Wesh ran with the 4×400 relay for a second straight weekend, but the Tigers finished sixth after holding the 12th national seed time coming into the meet. Two teams outside the national top 12 – Kansas and Notre Dame – finished ahead of the Tigers on Saturday. Keni Harrison, Nnenya Hailey and Nia Fluker combined with Wesh to a season-best time of 3:35.55.
