GREENSBORO, NC – Clemson women’s tennis standout Ani Mijacika was named the ACC Player-of-the-Week on Tuesday for the second straight week. Clemson’s Mijacika remained undefeated in dual matches by knocking off a pair of top-10 ranked opponents and has now posted three straight wins over top-10 opponents in singles action.
The award was the sixth of her career as the Tiger junior improved to 18-3 overall with 11 wins over ranked players. She also won both of her doubles matches and now owns an 11-4 individual doubles record.
Mijacika’s 6-4, 6-2 win over ninth-ranked Laura Gioia of Furman in No. 1 singles helped key the Tigers to a 7-0 win. She then outlasted Georgia’s seventh-ranked Chelsey Gullickson 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 in Clemson’s tough 4-3 loss to the nationally sixth-ranked Bulldogs.
Mijacika partnered with Keri Wong to knock off Georgia’s 10th-ranked duo and help the Tigers claim the doubles point on Saturday. Mijacika and the 12th-ranked Clemson team will return to action on Friday as they open play at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Madison, WI.
