Middle Tennessee Baseball Season Summary

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders put together an outstanding season, but things weren’t so rosy in the beginning.

The team started the season 3-9 before getting on track. However, after the early-season wake up call, the Blue Raiders began a remarkable roll.

A seven-game winning streak put the team’s record over the .500 mark and a school record 13-game winning streak sent the Blue Raiders toward the head of the class in the Ohio Valley Conference.

As the tough conference race wound down, the Blue Raiders found themselves tied for second, 1/2 game out of the lead. The finish also meant that the team would have to travel to rival Southeast Missouri for the conference tournament.

The Blue Raiders arrived at the OVC tournament as the third seed and facing an elimination game to open the event. A 4-3 win over Eastern Illinois put the team into the double-elimination round, where the Blue Raiders picked up wins over second-seeded Southeast Missouri 3-2 and first-seeded Eastern Kentucky 6-4.

The wins put the Blue Raiders into the championship game of the tournament where their bats finally came alive, knocking off Southeast Missouri for the second time in the tournament 11-4.

The OVC Tournament championship marks the eleventh time that the Blue Raiders have captured the crown and the subsequent NCAA Tournament appearance is the ninth in school history. The NCAA berths are also an OVC record.
