Men’s Track Performers Wrap up Yellow Jacket Invitational

Atlanta, GA – Clemson’s men’s track performers completed competition at the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday from the George C. Griffin Complex. Two Tiger athletes posted regional-qualifying marks on Saturday, Roy Cheney, Brown, Padgett, and Lydell Perry finished third and posted a regional-qualifying mark (40.28) in that event.

Padgett’s regional-qualifying effort came virtue of a time of 10.34 in the 100m dash, good enough for the fastest time out of 21 runners. Isaac Mullins (22.80) also competed in the 200 for Clemson.

Mills recorded the Tigers’ top time in the 400m at 48.33 seconds, which was a personal best for the sophomore. Mullins finished the 400 with a time of 50.39. Brian Knapp was the top Tiger finisher among five entries in the 800m, as he placed fourth in 1:53.04. Clay Pendleton (1:56.56), Sean Reilly (2:00.44), and Darrian Hodges (2:00.46) also competed in the 800m. Reilly finished 26th overall in the 1500m run after posting a time of 4:06.42. It marked the first time this season he competed in that event.

Two relay teams from Clemson competed in the 4x400m on Saturday, led by the “A” team of Mills, Cheney, Brown, and Rashad Gardner. That team finished seventh with a time of 3:15.12. The Clemson “B” team, comprised of Hodges, Knapp, Noble, and Pendleton, was 12th at 3:26.91 seconds.

Cheney came home 11th in the 110m hurdles after posting a time of 14.49 seconds. Andy Porter finished sixth overall in the 400m intermediate hurdles with a time of 53.12, while Perry was ninth in that event at 53.34.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, April 8 to play host to the Clemson Invitational from the Rock Norman Outdoor Track & Field Complex.
