Men’s Track & Field Takes to Chapel Hill for Carolina Classic

Clemson, SC – The men’s track & field team will travel to Chapel Hill, NC for the Carolina Classic this weekend, held at the Eddie Smith Field House. The venue will also serve as host site to the ACC Indoor Championships from February 28-March 1. Clemson is #9 according to the latest national rankings released Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA).

C.J. Spiller. All will be competing in Saturday’s 60m prelims at 11:05 AM Saturday. The final is set for 1:50 PM.

Guy and Padgett will also compete in the 200m dash, as will Corey Brown. That event is scheduled for 3:10 PM Saturday. Brown will be joined in the quarter mile by Cowin Mills and Travis Swaggard on Friday at 6:00 PM.

Brown, Mills, Swaggard, and Andrew Porter will comprise the Tigers’ effort in the 4x400m relay. That is the last scheduled running event Saturday afternoon. Porter will also compete in the 800m run earlier Saturday.

In the field events, Josh Fowler will compete in both the long jump and triple jump. The latter event is set for Friday at 5:00 PM, while the long jump will be Saturday beginning at 11:00 AM. Miller Moss, one of the top young multi-event athletes in the conference, will compete in the long jump as well. Scott Pauga will be the lone entry in the high jump; the sophomore transfer will go in that event at 11 as well.

Joey O’Rourke man the Tigers’ efforts in the pole vault, scheduled for 5:00 PM Friday. Mitch Greeley, ranked #2 in the nation in the event, will not compete this weekend.

Alex Padgett and Stephen White headline the Tigers’ entries in the throws, while multi-event athlete Mike Feathers is also competing in the shot put at 11 Saturday morning. Padgett and White are also scheduled for the weight throw late Friday afternoon.
