Men’s Track & Field Posts Pair of Regional Marks at Yellow Jacket Invitational

March 31, 2007

The Tiger men’s track & field team competed at three different locations Saturday, with most of the action coming courtesy of the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, GA. In total, two Tigers posted regional-qualifying marks at Georgia Tech.

Travis Padgett again posted a regional-qualifying mark in the 100m dash with the top time of the day (10.35). He ran into a wind to achieve that time in his second meet of the outdoor season. He also led the 4x100m relay team to a regional-qualifying effort at 40 seconds even. The group consisted of Gwantaveus Anderson, Corey Brown, Padgett, and Cowin Mills in the anchor spot.

Corey Brown ran a personal best in the 200m Saturday, as the sophomore from Charlotte, NC finished fifth overall with a time of 20.86. His mark was a regional-qualifying effort as well. He led the 4x400m relay team to a solid time as well (3:11.19), which was good enough for sixth-fastest on the afternoon. That was easily a season-best for that group.

Sean Reilly ran the steeplechase at Georgia Tech and won the event with a time of 9:51.43. Bryce Iverson was third in the 5000m run Saturday, posting a time of 14:49.05.

Andrew Porter finished sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.53, again just shy of a regional-qualifying effort. Travis Swaggard (53.43) also competed in the intermediate hurdles Saturday.
