Men’s Track & Field Plays Host to Clemson Invitational This Weekend

The Clemson men’s track & field squad will play host to the Clemson Invitational at the school’s Indoor Track & Field Complex on Friday and Saturday. The meet gets underway with the men’s distance medley relay and 35lb weight throw at 5:00 PM on Friday. Saturday’s competition will open with the 60m hurdles final, high jump, and shot put.

The Tigers are coming off a successful trip to Blacksburg, VA for the Virginia Tech Invitational last weekend. Four student-athletes posted NCAA qualifying marks at the Rector Field House, including two who that competed at last year’s Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, AR. Jason Bell leaped 51’6.25″ in the triple jump, while Adam Linkenauger cleared 7’2.25″ in the high jump.

Mitch Greeley and Travis Padgett also posted provisional qualifying efforts last weekend. In the pole vault, Greeley moved to second-place on the Tigers’ all-time indoor list with a clearance of 17’2.75″. Padgett ran a 6.69 in the 60m, also a provisional mark. Earlier this season at the Clemson Opener, red-shirt freshman Corey Brown ran a 6.65 to post an NCAA mark in the 60m as well.

The rest of Friday’s men’s schedule will feature 60m hurdles trials at 5:45 PM, long jump competition at 6:00 PM, 60m dash trials at 6:20 PM, and the 5000m at 7:00 PM. On Saturday, the 60m dash final and consolation final will take place at 11:30 AM. At 11:50 AM, the mile run will be held. The 400m dash will take place at 12:45 PM, while the triple jump and pole vault will begin at 1:00 PM. The day concludes for the men with the 800m run, followed by the 200m dash, 3000m, and 4x400m relay at 3:55 PM.
