Jan. 23, 2007

The Clemson men’s track & field team is listed 11th in the latest Trackwire rankings, according to Trackshark.com. The team also has five student-athletes that rank among this week’s ‘Dandy Dozen’ in various events.

Travis Padgett remains #1 in the 60m list of the nation’s top 12 performers, while freshman teammate Jacoby Ford makes his debut on that list this week. Ford, who clocked a 6.65 this past weekend, is listed eighth in this week’s ‘Dandy Dozen.’ Ford’s mark is the second-best in the nation so far this season and fourth-best in school history. Padgett and Ford finished 1-2, respectively, in the 60m final on Saturday.

Jason Bell, an NCAA outdoor All-American, is listed eighth in this week’s rankings for the triple jump. He posted his first NCAA provisional qualifying mark over the weekend with a 51’3.75″ effort that helped win the event at the Clemson Invitational.

Mitch Greeley is ranked #4 in the latest ‘Dandy Dozen’ listings. The Rock Hill, SC native has competed in the pole vault three times this season and has been consistently strong at each meet. Greeley, who owns the school record in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault, had a personal best clearance of 17’7.25″ at the Clemson Opener in December.

Ryan Koontz is listed 11th in the latest rankings for multi-event athletes. He will showcase his skills this weekend at the Clemson Multi-Event Challenge, as he hopes to produce an NCAA qualifying effort in the heptathlon. He ranks second in school history in the heptathlon.
