Meet Program

Clemson, SC – The men’s track & field team will participate in this weekend’s Yellow Jacket Invitational, held at the George C. Griffin Track on the Georgia Tech campus in Atlanta, GA. Action gets underway Friday with the men’s hammer throw. The remainder of the events will be held Saturday.

Alex Padgett will get things started in the hammer throw Friday night after the women compete, beginning at 6:00 PM. Padgett will also compete Saturday morning at 10:30 in the shot put. Also competing at that time in the javelin throw will be multi-event performer Miller Moss and sophomore Scott Pauga.

The first running event Saturday will be the 4x100m relay at 12:00 noon. The group has already qualified for the East Region Championships, having posted a time of 40.37 last weekend at the Clemson Relays. Travis Padgett, five-time NCAA All-American, headlines the Tigers’ relay squad.

Matt Bruce and Sam Bryfczynski will race in the 1500m run at 12:10 PM, followed by Moss in the high hurdles at 12:55 PM. The long jump competition gets started at 1:00 Saturday afternoon. George Fields will join Moss as Clemson entries in the event. Also at 1:00, the pole vault competition will be held. Chris Spear, an improving sophomore, looks to qualify for regionals in that event.

Corey Brown and Cowin Mills are slated for the quarter mile at 1:30 PM. Freshman sprinter Kendall Millhouse is entered in the 100m dash at 2:10. Padgett ran the 100m last weekend, where he posted a strong time of 10.11 to kick off the outdoor season. Padgett’s focus Saturday will be the 200m dash, which is scheduled for 4:00 PM. He will be joined by a host of Tigers, including Brown and freshman Trenton Guy who will be returning following an injury-riddled indoor season.

Andrew Porter and Travis Swaggard will compete in the 400m intermediate hurdles at 3:30 Saturday afternoon. Porter was a regional qualifier last season in the event. Both student-athletes will be part of Clemson’s 4x400m relay team, along with Brown and Mills, at 5:15 PM to end the competition.
