CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s tennis team will travel to Columbia, SC on Wednesday, Mar. 26 to take on #18 South Carolina . The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
Clemson is 18-6 on the season and 2-0 in ACC play. Last week Clemson posted a 4-1 record with wins over Northwestern, San Antonio, Texas A&M (Corpus Christi) and Louisiana-Lafayette. The Tigers have won 12 of their last 14 matches.
In singles, freshman Jarmaine Jenkins has won nine of his last 10 matches and is one of three players with 20 or more overall wins this season with a 20-4 record. Junior Damiisa Robinson has tallied a 21-4 record this season and sophomore Sander Koning is 20-7 overall.
In doubles, the Tigers’ duo of Nathan Thompson and Jenkins leads the team with a 17-6 overall record, most recently earning victories at #1 doubles over Louisiana-Lafayette and Texas A&M (Corpus Christi).
The Tigers are 30-40 all-time against the Gamecocks. The two teams last met during the 2002 season, as South Carolina defeated Clemson 7-0. The Gamecocks are 12-2 this season, most recently defeating North Carolina by a score of 4-2.
