Men’s Tennis To Compete At Great Northwest Shootout This Weekend

The Clemson men’s tennis team will travel to Seattle, WA on Saturday to compete in the Great Northwest Shootout. The Tigers are scheduled to take on #12 Washington on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. (PT), and then face the winner of the #27 Tulane – #33 San Diego State match on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. (PT).

Clemson has a 6-2 record this season, the best start since the 1996 season. The Tigers competed at the Harvard Duals last weekend, posting a 1-2 record. Clemson dropped a 4-2 decision to then-11th-ranked Minnesota, but defeated Boise State 5-2. The Tigers lost a 4-3 match to then-30th-ranked Harvard on Sunday to wrap up the weekend. Clemson is ranked 37th in the latest ITA poll.

The Tigers are 0-1 all-time against Washington. The Huskies enter this weekend with a 6-0 record, most recently defeating Virginia Commonwealth (4-3) and North Carolina (6-1).

Clemson is 2-0 in matches against Tulane. Clemson and the Green Wave last met in 1997 at the Corpus Christi Invitational, as the Tigers defeated Tulane 4-3. Tulane has posted a 2-1 record this season, defeating SMU and Mississippi State.

The Tigers are 0-2 all-time against San Diego State. Clemson and the Aztecs last met on the court in 1993, as San Diego State won a 5-2 decision over Clemson. San Diego State has posted a 1-1 record this season, most recently upsetting then-15th- ranked Pepperdine by a score of 4-3.
