Men’s Tennis Competes at South Florida Invitational

Tampa, FL — The Clemson men’s tennis team won 23 of 27 matches and captured the flight championships in all three doubles positions last weekend at the South Florida Spring Invitational. The tournament, which was not a dual match format tournament included Central Florida, Florida A & M, and South Florida as well as the Tigers.

Clemson won all three doubles flights at the tournament, led by the 22nd-ranked pairing of junior Nathan Thompson and sophomore Jarmaine Jenkins at the number one position. Seniors Damiisa Robinson and Goran Sterijovski took the flight two doubles, and the combination of freshman Ryan Young and sophomore Brett Twente won the championship at the number three position.

Also, the Tigers claimed two singles flight championships as Thompson beat #27 Uli Kiendl 6-4, 6-4 at the flight one position, and Robinson went undefeated for the weekend to claim the flight three championship.

Clemson returns to action this weekend as it travels to Mt. Pleasant, SC to faceThe Citadel at 10 a.m. and College of Charleston at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in a pair of dual matches at Patriot’s Point.
