The incoming Clemson men’s tennis class has been ranked No. 18 nationally according to tennisrecruiting.net. The signees include Americans Matthew Pitts (Greer, S.C.) and Maxwell Smith (Daniel Island, S.C.), who are both listed as five-star prospects, along with Nini Dica (Timișoara, Romania). Dica is the second-highest ranked international player among the top 25 classes.
It marks the second straight top-20 recruiting class that Head Coach Robbie Weiss and Assistant Coach Matt Walters have brought to Clemson, as the 2020 class was ranked No. 2 nationally by tennisrecruiting.net.
Clemson tallied 110 points towards the ranking. Clemson first earned a top-25 ranking for an incoming class in 2012 when they were tied for 23rd. Additionally, the Tigers received votes on five other occasions (2006, 2011, 2013, 2017, 2018).
Ryuhei Azuma, Jorge Plans Gonzalez, Spencer Whitaker and Daniel Labrador, members of the 2020 recruiting class, combined to win 37 singles matches and 28 doubles matches this season.
