Men’s Swimming Finishes in Fifth-Place at the ACC Championships

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Clemson men’s swimming and diving team finished in fifth-place at the ACC Championships at Campus Recreation Center Natatorium. During the final day of competition, Clemson qualified for the NCAA Championships in two more events.

Clemson’s Rob Kummer earned a second-place finish and an NCAA qualifying time in the 200 fly with a time of 1:47.82. Mark Henly posted an NCAA qualifying time in the 200 back on his way to a fifth-place finish in the event with a time of 1:46.50. Teammate German Martinez also performed well for the Tigers as he finished seventh in the 200 back with a time of 1:47.30.

Craig Thomas performed well for the Tigers in the three-meter event as he finished in third-place with a final score of 499.75. Teammate Eric Shulick also finished in the top-ten with a score of 402.65.

The Clemson 400 free relay team of German Martinez, Drew Scheerhorn, Matt Wilson, and Brent Hitchcock earned a fourth-place finish in the event with a time of 3:01.29.

The Tiger athletes that qualified for the NCAA’s will return to action on Mar. 28th at the NCAA Championships in Athens, GA at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
