Men’s Swimming and Diving Falls to Penn State

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Penn State men’s swimming and diving team defeated Clemson 129-108, Saturday at the McHugh Natorium on Clemson’s campus. The Nittany Lions set new pool records in both relay events.

The Penn State team of Josh Weaver, Matt Teeter, Gavin Carscallen and Brian Hosteder set a new pool record in the 200 medley relay, finishing in 1:33.38 to break the old record of 1:34.26, set by Clemson in 1989. The Nittany Lion 200 free relay team of Bob Molettierre, Hosteder, Shuan Anderson and Dan Okoniewski also set a new pool record with a time of 1:22.86, breaking the old record of 1:23.81 set by North Carolina in 1993.

Two Clemson freshmen recorded first place times. Sean Wallace won the 100 breast with a time of 57.90, and Andy Meek won the 500 free in 4:39.81. Clemson sophomore Tim Collis won the 50 free in 21.22

Tiger sophomore Andy Garrett won both diving competitions, scoring 259.72 on the one-meter board and 403.13 on the three-meter board.

The Tigers (3-3, 0-2 ACC) will play host to South Carolina Saturday, January 16, at 1 p.m.
