With the win, Clemson improves to 11-3-3 overall, while Western Illinois falls to 8-10-1 this season. The Tigers are ranked 12th by Soccer America and 20th by the NSCAA. Clemson is also ranked 11th by Soccertimes.com.

Western Illinois scored first as D.J. Harrington scored at the 4:20 mark with an assist by Daniel Bustos. Bostos along with Steven Gorton assisted Boris Bacsovics at the 49:39 point into the match as the Leathernecks took a 2-0 advantage.

Lewis scored with 53:21 gone in the match with assist by Fabio Tambosi and Oskar Bringsved. Lewis would score again with an assist by Borges to even the score, 2-2 with 12:56 remaining in the match. Borges scored the game-winner with assists by Lewis and Dwayne Jones with 3:24 gone in the first overtime period.

“They took us to the brink,” said Clemson Head Coach Trevor Adair. “Being down 2-0 and making a comeback shows character, but we need it from everybody. We are too good of a team to be giving up two or three goals per game. I am happy that we won, but I am not happy in the way we played. We need rest and we now must prepare for the ACC Tournament. A win against a good team is what we need to get us back on track.”
