Clemson, SC – The men’s cross country team will see its second action of the season this weekend at the Catamount Classic on the Western Carolina University campus. The Tigers claimed the four-mile Western Carolina Invitational on August 31 in their first action of the season.

Tyler Morey, a freshman from Combined Locks, WI, won the meet two weeks ago with a time of 20:34.7. The meet was delayed for an extended period of time due to lightning in the area. Morey led a host of Clemson harriers who placed among the event’s top eight finishers. Fellow freshman Chad Holt, a local product from Greenville, SC, was runner-up in his first-ever collegiate meet.

Brian Soder and Will Noble were fourth and fifth, respectively. Noble will be making the return trip to Cullowhee this weekend, while Soder will not. Dan Cartica was the team’s final scorer at the Western Carolina Invitational and the red-shirt freshman is set to make the trip as well this weekend. Jonathan Sunde, a walk-on from Charlotte, NC, placed in the top 10 at the WCU Invitational and will also compete this weekend for the Tigers.
