Men’s Cross Country Ranks 25th Nationally

September 15, 1998

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s cross country team ranks 25th nationally, according to the preseason Grote Poll. In the Southeast Region preseason poll, the Tigers rank third, behind N.C. State and William and Mary.

The Tigers are led by seniors Joe Gibson and Esteban Diaz. An All-American at Brevard before transferring to Clemson, Gibson was named all-ACC and all-region last season. Diaz also garnered all-region honors last season.

“We have two good penetrators who can execute, but can also stay and cover the moves of our other runners,” Pollock explains. “The good strength background of this team should be a plus at the end of the season.”

The team will compete Saturday at the Cavalier Invitational in Charlottesville, Virginia.
