McKinney And Staff To Host Annual Lady Tiger Basketball Camps

June 11, 2007

Clemson women’s basketball Head Coach Cristy McKinney is pleased to host the annual Lady Tiger Basketball Camps this summer on the beautiful campus of Clemson University. The schedule includes two team camps for middle school, junior varsity, and varsity level teams to be conducted both at Fike Recreation Center and the Littlejohn Coliseum complex. In addition, Coach McKinney and her staff will conduct an Elite Position Camp for girls ages 14-18, and an Individual Instructional Camp for girls from 10-18 years of age. Of course, the little ones have their chance to experience Lady Tiger basketball, too, with the Li’l Pros Day Camp, for 5-9 year olds.

Lady Tiger Team Camps will be held on June 15-17 and June 29-July 1. Teams with a minimum of 8 players will play a competitive 8 game schedule, while being housed in some of Clemson’s local hotels.

Elite Position camp will be conducted from June 18-20, and will give young ladies a chance to enhance their skills at the point guard, wing, and post positions. They will also have the opportunity to test their abilities against some other excellent players in competitive game action. Each camper will receive an Elite Camp T-shirt as well as a Clemson Lady Tiger basketball. Awards will be given in each age group by position.

The individual camp will be held July 8-11. In addition to the Clemson coaches, the camp staff will include members of the Lady Tiger basketball team, former collegiate players, and current high school and junior high coaches. The camper-coach ratio is approximately 8 to 1, which ensures each child will receive the attention she needs to have a great camp experience! Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt, as well as a Clemson Lady Tiger basketball. The camp will be divided into age and ability groups focusing on instruction and competition. Areas of emphasis will include shooting, individual defense, fundamentals, and individual offense. Awards will be given for winners in each age group for individual and team competitions. Campers will stay in the Stadium Suites, the nicest dorm on campus, located within easy walking distance to Fike Recreation Center, Littlejohn Coliseum, and Harcombe Dining Hall.

Our Li,l Pros, which will participate from 8:30 until noon June 25-28, will learn basketball in an environment that promotes fun and helps develop a love for the game! Campers will receive instruction in basic basketball skills and concepts, while having the opportunity to play as well. Encourage your young hoopster to take advantage of this experience?it will be a highlight of their summer!
