Terre Haute, IN – Clemson junior Matt Clark competed at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center. The native of Hyannis, MA completed the 10K course with a time of 30:59.6 and finished 105th out of 253 individuals.
“Matt did a great job in his first trip to the National event,” said Bob Pollock, Clemson cross country coach. “He capped off a good season in a competitive field at an incredibly challenging 10,000 meter course. It was a great experience for him, and we’d both like to obviously be back here next year.”
The Wisconsin men claimed the NCAA title with an incredible 37 points, led by the #1 individual finisher Simon Bairu at 29:15.9. Arkansas placed second with 105 points and Notre Dame finished third with 178 points.
Clark finished the 2005 cross country season with multiple honors and accolades. He was an All-Region performer for the second consecutive year and also earned his first All-ACC honor by virtue of his runner-up finish at the conference meet last month. He also earned an ACC Performer of the Week honor earlier this season and was the individual champion at the Clemson Invitational/S.C. Collegiate in September.
