Clemson Hosts Southern Miss in Midweek Match

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team will welcome Southern Miss for a midweek match in Jervey Gym on Wednesday evening. The 5 p.m. clash between the Tigers and the Golden Eagles will mark the first time these two programs have met on the volleyball court and is set to be streamed on ACCNX.

Clemson enters the match with an 11-14 (3-11 ACC) record and is looking to break back into the win category while at home. So far this season, Clemson is 7-0 against non-conference opponents in Jervey. Graduate transfer Kayee Martin continues to lead the Tigers offensively with a team-high 3.24 kills per set on 282 kills. Martin is also four points away from surpassing the elusive 2,000-career point mark. Camryn Hannah looks to help Martin in the offensive zone as the sophomore adds 221 kills on the year.

Additionally, Mckenna Slavik enters the match with 746 assists in 2021 and sits seventh in the ACC for assists per set (9.56). On the defensive end, freshman Devan Taylor leads the team with 299 digs, while senior Ava Pritchard continues her dominance at the net with a team-high 66 blocks this season.

Southern Miss enter Wednesday’s match with an 11-16 record after dropping its last two matches to LA Tech and Alabama State. The Golden Eagles are led offensively by freshman Mia Wesley, who has 416 kills to average 4.08 per set and 31 aces on the season. Defensively, freshman Cara Atkinson leads the program with 69 blocks, while Aliah Giroux has 405 digs.

All matches in Jervey Gym are free and open to the public. Face coverings are required according to the mask mandate on Clemson’s campus within indoor spaces.
