Tiger swimmer Mark Henly was named the NCAA Division I Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the week of Jan. 17, as announced by CollegeSwimming.com on Friday. Henly won three individual events and was a member of one first-place relay team to help lead the Tigers to a 150-150 tie against 22nd-ranked North Carolina last weekend in Chapel Hill. He earned Atlantic Coast Conference Performer of the Week honors earlier this week for his performance against the Tar Heels.
Henly took first place in the 100 back (50.21), the 200 back (1:47.73) and the 200 IM (1:52.98) against North Carolina. He was a member of the Tigers’ winning 400 medley relay team, posting a 50.17 backstroke split time to lead off the event, to help Clemson finish in a tie with North Carolina. The tie was the fourth in Tiger men’s swimming and diving history, and the first since the 1968 season.
