GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson’s Marci Glenney and Duke’s Monique Currie garner this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively.
Glenney, a senior guard/forward earns ACC Player of the Week recognition after averaging 20.8 points in the Tigers three ACC contests against Maryland (19 pts., 7 reb.), NC State (19 pts., 6 steals) and Georgia Tech (24 pts., 4 assists). On the week, the Lisbon, Conn., native was 19 for 38 (.500) from the floor including 6 for 10 (.600) from behind the arc. From the free throw stripe Glenney also tallied 18 points off of 22 attempts (.818). Glenney also scored a career-high 24 point vs. the Yellow Jackets.
Rookie of the Week honors are claimed by Duke’s Monique Currie. The freshman averaged 22.0 points per game in two ACC victories against No. 20 North Carolina and Florida State. The Washington, D.C., native scored back to back 20 plus games for the first time in her career. She had 23 points on 9 of 14 (.643) from the floor against the Tar Heels and had 21 points on 8 of 12 (.667) against the Seminoles. This is her fourth ACC Rookie of the Week honor.
