The Lady Tiger track & field team had a successful day at the Niswonger Invitational on Friday, a meet hosted by East Tennessee State University. Clemson senior Della Clark won the weight throw, while freshman Patricia Mamona claimed her second triple jump title in just three meets as a Lady Tiger.
Mamona posted another NCAA provisional qualifying mark after she hit a leap of 41’8.5″, good enough for first place Friday evening. Nakeisha Wineglass was ninth in that event with a mark of 38’4.75″.
Clark won the weight throw with a mark of 56’11.25″, while sophomore Rochelle Kokayko was second at 55’3″. Catheryne Porter was a third Lady Tiger to place in the top five at the meet, as she posted a throw of 50’7.5″.
Dix ran a personal best 2:13.36 in the 800m to finish second by a slim margin. Fellow middle distance performer Patrice McMillan was sixth overall with a season-best time of 2:17.04.
In the 60m dash, Ra’Sheena Parker was the lone Clemson athlete to advance to Saturday’s final round. She had a time of 7.69 seconds and was ninth-fastest out of 87 runners in that event. In the 60m hurdles, Polly Hardy was second-best overall on day one with a time of 8.74. She, along with sophomore Krystal Barringer, qualified for Saturday’s final in the high hurdles.
In the 200m dash, Ope Sobanjo was 16th at 58.59 seconds.
In the high jump, Anni Korhonen was seventh as she cleared 5’3″. Sara Young (2005). Beth Jordan was sixth in the pole vault.
