CLEMSON, SC – Patricia Mamona won the long jump and was one of three Lady Tigers to place in the event, as the women’s track and field team ranks first at the Clemson Invitational after four events.
Mamona jumped 5.92 meters to post the best mark for a Lady Tiger this indoor season. April Sinkler recorded a mark of 5.76 meters to place second, while Nakeisha Wineglass finished fifth with a 5.49-meter jump.
Saturday’s action will begin at 11:00 am at the Clemson Indoor Track with the last event scheduled for 5:05 pm.
The Lady Tigers placed three runners in the finals of the 5000-meters, led by Laura Laughlin’s #2-ranking time of 17:57.15. Maggie Bernard finished fifth with a mark of 19:01.60, while Susan Tucker ran a time of 22:16.43 to place eighth.
Rochelle Kokayko and Catheryne Porter earned points for Clemson in the weight throw. Kokayko’s throw of 15.27 meters was good enough for fifth place, while Porter placed six with a mark of 15.15 meters.
Polly Hardy posted the third-best mark in the prelims of the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.53 and qualified for Saturday’s finals. In the same race, Michaylin Gollady and Linda Buchholz recorded times of 9.53 and 9.57, respectively.
Clemson’s distance medley relay team, comprised of Stephanie Buffo, Christina Mason, Jill Yandle and Jenna Baker, placed fourth in the event with a time of 12:28.45.
In the 60-meter dash, Kristine Scott ran a time of 7.83 while Hardy trailed her by just 0.01 in her first race of the season.
