Fayetteville, AR – The Clemson women’s track & field team had five members compete at the Arkansas Last Chance Meet on Friday. The event was held at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the University of Arkansas campus.
Patricia Mamona, who earned All-ACC honors last weekend, improved on her personal best in the triple jump. She hit a mark of 43’0.25″, second-best in school history. In doing so, she strengthened her opportunity to earn a bid to the NCAA Indoor Championships at the same venue on March 9-10. She came into the event holding the 24th-best mark in the nation, but her leap Friday may be good enough to propel her into the top 15 in the triple jump.
Della Clark also posted an NCAA provisional mark Friday. She had a toss of 64’4″ in the weight throw. Her best mark this season was 66’7″ at the Tiger Classic. Clark came into the meet with the 10th best mark in the nation in that event.
Polly Hardy attempted to improve on her 8.39 in the 60m hurdles. She ran an 8.49 on Friday, so she will await word on whether or not her provisional qualifying effort will be good enough to place her in the NCAA Championships.
Linda Buchholz and Liane Weber competed in the long jump. Buchholz finished fourth with a leap of 19’0.75″, while Weber was fifth at 18’3″. Weber has posted an automatic qualifying total in the pentathlon, while Buchholz’ point total currently ranks 27th-best in the nation.
The Lady Tigers’ final attempts to qualify for NCAAs will take place Saturday in Blacksburg, VA at the Virginia Tech Qualifier.
