Clemson senior Itay Magidi will take part in the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, IN on Monday afternoon. Magidi, who finished third last weekend at the NCAA Southeast Regional, will join a field of 386 runners vying for a cross country national title. The meet, scheduled for 1:15 PM, will take place on a 10K course at the LaVern Gibson course at the Wabash Valley Sports Center.
Magidi is making his second trip to the NCAA Championships. He went in 2004 and finished 58th overall. His first competition this season was at the Pre-Nationals event in Terre Haute. He was 38th, despite being slowed early on after a loose shoe. Magidi won the ACC individual title on October 28 in Earlysville, VA with a record-breaking time. He followed that by placing third at regionals on November 11.
Clemson has had 11 All-America honorees at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, including one since the 1988 season. Scott Shaw earned the honors in 2003 after placing 34th with a time of 30:13.5.
