Lumsden Invited to USA Baseball 2003 National Team Trials

Tyler Lumsden was one of the first eight players invited to try out for the USA National Team, announced on March 26, 2003. Lumsden joins righthander Philip Humber (Rice), infielder Paul Janish (Rice), catcher Mike Nickeas (Georgia Tech), righthander Jeff Niemann (Rice), righthander Huston Street (Texas), righthander Justin Verlander (Old Dominion), and righthander Jered Weaver (Long Beach State) as invitees. All eight invitees are sophomores this season. The USA National Team will play in the Pan Am Games in the Dominican Republic in August. The official team roster will be determined and announced on June 27. The team will open play July 2 at Durham (NC) Bulls Athletic Park against Japan. Team USA will also play an additional seven games in Durham among other contests.
