Logan Morris Qualifies For Team USA

EUGENE, Ore. – Clemson cross country’s most decorated freshman just continued her hot start to her collegiate career as Logan Morris qualified for the USA Cross Country Junior National Team. The Inman, South Carolina native battled challenging course conditions in Eugene, Oregon to earn the chance to compete with Team USA.

Morris battled mud and snow over the course of 3,000 meters to take fourth place overall, finishing with a time of 23:10.4. The top six finishers qualified to compete for Team USA.

“What a great day for Logan,” said head coach Mark Elliott. “After speaking with her about the race, this was one of her dreams and I am very happy she gets to represent her country. It’s an honor very few people have the opportunity to do. This truly is a great day for her and her family.”

“I’m very proud of how Logan raced today,” said distance coach Michael Porter. “Given the conditions, she ran smart and did enough to make sure that she finished in the top six. She was mentally ready to go and executed the plan very well.”

The All-Conference harrier will sport the red, white and blue on two occasions in March. The first competition is slated for March 4th as she will compete at the NACAC Cross Country Championship in Boca Raton, Florida. She will then travel with Team USA to the IAAF World Junior Cross Country Championship in Kampala, Uganda on March 26.
