Clemson, SC – Liane Weber was named second-team Academic All-District III by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) on Thursday. It is the first academic honor from CoSIDA for the junior multi-event athlete from Wangen, Germany.
Weber had an outstanding 2008-09 season both on and off the track. She concluded the indoor campaign as a first-time NCAA All-American in the pentathlon. In fact, the sixth-place NCAA finisher earned the first-ever All-America certificate in history for the Clemson women’s program in the multi-events with her performance. She set an ACC record with 4,235 points at the national meet.
Weber also produced for the Tigers at the ACC Indoor Championships. She helped the team to an improved third-place showing after winning her second pentathlon crown in the last three years. Weber red-shirted the outdoor season and will have one indoor season and two outdoor seasons of eligibility remaining.
A health science major, Weber ended the spring semester with a 3.79 cumulative GPA. She is a former Academic All-ACC selection (2007) as well.
