GREENVILLE, SC – Christy Brown hit the first of a one-and-one to make it a two-possession game, securing a 58-52 Lady Tiger win over Furman at the Timmons Arena on Wednesday night.

Lele Hardy grabbed the rebound off of Brown’s missed second shot and rookie Whitney Hood laid it up with four seconds left for the final basket of the night.

The Lady Tigers (5-5) saw a nine-point halftime advantage slip away in the second period, as the Paladins took their first lead since 12-9 after Katie Johnson converted two free throws for the 45-44 edge.

Another Johnson foul shot put Furman up by two, but two field goals by D’Lesha Lloyd and a three-point play by Brown gave the lead back to Clemson.

Lloyd hit another jumper to put the Lady Tigers on top 53-50 before Campbell and Brown sealed the victory at the foul line.

Lloyd, a senior from Columbia, SC, had a team-high 16 points and also led Clemson with six rebounds. Campbell also tallied double figures with 10 on the night, while Hardy added six rebounds, six assists and three steals.

“I thought this was a good win for us,” said Lady Tiger Head Coach Cristy McKinney. “We didn’t play great, but we made plays when we had to down the stretch.”

“Coming off two losses, it was important for us to get a win,” she added.

The Lady Tigers led 31-22 at the half due in large part to a nearly 10-minute stretch where they held the Paladins to just one field goal. With the teams tied at 14-14 at the 10:37 mark, Clemson posted the next six points and extended its advantage to as many as 13 (31-18) before Furman hit a pair of baskets to end the period.

Kali Holtfreter led the Paladins (3-4) with 16 points, and Katie Johnson added 15 on 4-for-9 shooting.

The Lady Tigers will return home on Friday night, as they will play host to James Madison. The teams are scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 pm from Littlejohn Coliseum.
