Lady Tigers Welcome Wagner Seahawk To Littlejohn Coliseum On Dec. 18

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s basketball team will play host to the Wagner Seahawks on Sunday, Dec 18. The teams will begin play at 3:00 PM at Littlejohn Coliseum. The Lady Tigers have won three of their last four games for an overall record of 3-6 for the 2005-06 season; the Seahawks bring an 0-6 record into Tigertown. The Clemson Tiger Sports Network will broadcast Sunday’s contest with Don Munson’s preview show beginning at 2:50 PM. Kanetra Queen will serve as color commentator.

Senior Julie Talley leads the Clemson squad with a 12.0 scoring average. The Salem, SC native matched former Tiger Julie Aderhold’s mark of 125 career three-point field goals made with four against San Diego on Dec. 11 to tie for fourth-place in the Lady Tiger annuals. Fellow guard Tasha Phillips has continued to play well as of late, averaging 18.0 points per game in Clemson’s last four contests. Phillips also ranks second on the team with a 5.1 rebound per game average; Amanda Frist has a team-high 6.2 per game. Sophomore point guard Tasha Taylor leads the ACC with a 6.0 assist per game ratio, as she has handed out 54 assists in the Lady Tigers’ nine games.

The Series The Clemson Lady Tigers and Wagner Seahawks have met on the basketball court on only one previous occasion. Clemson won an 80-50 decision on Dec. 16, 2004 at the Spiro Sports Center in Staten Island, NY. Three Lady Tigers scored in double figures in the contest, while Wagner’s Joy Gallagher led all scorers with 14 points on the night.

Scouting the Wagner Seahawks The Wagner women’s basketball team is looking for its first win of the 2005-06 season. Sunday’s contest with Clemson will be the Seahawks seventh game of the young season. Sophomore Chesley Bunyer leads the team with a 14.5 scoring average while senior Joy Gallagher is averaging 13.3 points per game. The Seahawks are led on the boards by junior forward Takesha Dye, who has an 8.0 rebound per game ratio. Wagner is shooting 32.6% from three-point land as Gallagher has made a team-high 13 of 39 attempts for a 33.3 percentage.

News
