Lady Tigers Welcome Demon Deacons To Littlejohn On Sunday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s basketball team will play host to Wake Forest in an ACC match-up on Sunday afternoon. Play is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM from Littlejohn Coliseum. The Lady Tigers, who are coming off of a loss to Miami on Thursday, have a 7-10 overall record with a 1-2 mark in conference action. The Demon Deacons won a 83-33 decision over Morgan State on Wednesday night to improve their overall record to 9-5. They are 1-1 against ACC opponents. Sunday’s game will be broadcast by the Clemson Tiger Sports Network. Sophomore forward Maxienne White is averaging 12.1 points per game since earning a starting role on Dec. 11. She had team-high scorer honors against Miami on Thursday with 16 and also led the team with nine rebounds. Point guard Tasha Taylor continues to lead the ACC with a 6.35 assist per game average. Her eight assists Thursday night extended her lead to 0.20 points. Amanda Frist has also played well as of late. The Lady Tigers’ starting center has posted double-figure point totals in four of Clemson’s last five games to bring her season average to 9.6 per game.

Scouting the Wake Forest Demon Deacons The Wake Forest Demon Deacons bring a 9-5 overall record and a two-game winning streak into Littlejohn Coliseum on Sunday afternoon. Wake Forest also has a 1-1 record against ACC opponents.

The Demon Deacons are led by Cotelia Bond-Young. The senior guard is averaging 17.1 points per game and has also handed out a team-best 58 assists. Fellow senior Liz Strunk has a 15.3 scoring average while leading the team with a 5.4 rebound per game ratio. Freshman Deirdre Naughton is also averaging double figures for Wake Forest with a 12.6 point per game mark, and her 5.3 rebounds per game ranks second on the team.

Overall, the Demon Deacons are averaging 70.0 points per game, while allowing the opposition just 64.2. They are shooting 40.6% from the field, 31.5% from behind the three-point arc and 72.1% from the foul line.

The Series Sunday’s match-up between the Clemson Lady Tigers and Wake Forest Demon Deacons will be the 52nd meeting between the two teams. Clemson leads the all-time score by a 40-11 margin, including a 21-5 record in games played at Littlejohn Coliseum. However, Wake Forest claimed both contests last season. The Demon Deacons won a 86-71 decision in Winston-Salem, NC and then defeated the Lady Tigers, 68-60, in Clemson, SC.
