Lady Tigers sign two players

CLEMSON, SC-Tasha Phillips and Reggie Maddox both signed national letters of intent to play women’s basketball at Clemson as announced by Head Coach Jim Davis Wednesday.

Phillips, a native of Campbellsville, KY, is a 5’9″ guard. She attended Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, FL. This past season, she helped Gulf Coast reach the national championship game of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

During her sophomore campaign, she scored 445 points or 12.4 ppg. She also averaged 4.3 rpg., and had 92 assists and 64 steals. She also shot .344 from the three-point range as she was 86-250. Phillips was named to the All-Panhandle Conference team and to the Florida Community College Athletic Association (FCCAA) All-State team.

Maddox attended Chipola Junior College and was named third team All-American. Maddox is a 5-9 guard. She helped lead the Lady Indians to the state tournament and an overall record of 22-9 for the season. She averaged 13.8 ppg. her sophomore year as she finished with 360 points for the year. She also pulled down 135 rebounds or 4.4 rpg. She also had 82 assists and 57 steals.

She was named to the Panhandle Conference first team and made the FCCAA All-State and NJCAA All-Region VIII Team. She was Chipola’s first All-American.

“Tasha Phillips is an exceptional player and has great three-point shooting range,” said Clemson Head Coach Jim Davis. “Her junior college experience included a national runner-up finish, and this will bring invaluable experience to our program. She is solid in all phases of the game.

“Reggie can play any of the perimeter positions. She has excellent speed and quickness. She is a tremendous on-the-ball defender. Reggie has great basketball savy and this will enable her to play anywhere on the perimeter.”
