CLEMSON, SC – Clemson Head Coach Cristy McKinney and her Lady Tigers (4-5) will make the short trip to Greenville, SC for a date with the Furman Paladins (3-3) on Wednesday night. The teams are slated for a 7:00 pm tip from Timmons Arena on the Furman campus.
D’Lesha Lloyd leads the Clemson offense with 11.7 points per game, while point guard Christy Brown is averaging 9.3 points per game with 29 assists on the year. Brown has knocked down a team-best 11 three-point field goals with a .407 shooting percentage from long range.
Sophomore Lele Hardy’s 6.6 rebounds per game are a Lady Tiger high, while fellow sophomore Morganne Campbell has recorded 22 steals this season.
Scouting Furman The Paladins own a 3-3 record and are coming off of a 70-53 win over Rice at Timmons Arena. Furman has also defeated Tusculum and Jacksonville State this season. The Paladins and Lady Tigers have played two common opponents with the same results. Both teams fell to Vanderbilt and then later defeated Rice.
Kali Holtfreter is the only Paladin player averaging in double figures with 11.3 points per game. She has hit 13 three pointers, shooting 48.1-percent from long range. Katie Johnson leads the team on the boards with a 6.3 rebounds per game average.
The Series Clemson and Furman have met 20 prior times in a series that dates back to the first year of Lady Tiger basketball in 1975-76. Clemson holds a 18-2 advantage in those games, including an 8-1 lead in games played on the Paladins’ home court. The Lady Tigers won an 82-55 decision at Timmons Arena during the 2005-06 season and defeated Furman, 67-62, last season at Littlejohn Coliseum. The Paladins’ last win was in 2004-05 when they claimed an 76-59 victory in Clemson, SC.
