Lady Tigers Post Three Regional Marks at Clemson Relays

Clemson, SC – The women’s track & field team competed well at the Clemson Relays on Saturday at the Rock Norman Outdoor Complex. Three Lady Tigers posted regional-qualifying marks Saturday, including two in the field events.

Polly Hardy improved on her personal best in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.57, good enough for first place. Krystal Barringer was runner-up with a personal best as well, she had a time of 13.95. Her effort was just shy of a regional-qualifying time. Michaylin Golladay (14.95) and Ashley Good (15.09) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, for Clemson.

The 4x100m relay team of Ra’Sheena Parker, Michaylin Golladay, and Kristine Scott finished runner-up with a time of 45.85, just shy of a regional-qualifying effort. It was their top time of the season in the 400m relay. The same group also ran the 4x200m, finishing second again. The group ran a time of 1:36.96.

Parker was fourth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.02, while Scott finished fifth overall at 12.11. Ope Sobanjo (12.36) also competed for the Lady Tigers, finishing in eighth place. Sierra Hill claimed the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.28. Maggie Bernard placed ninth in the 5000m run with a time of 20:15.28.

Clemson won the 4x800m with a time of 9:32.83. Patrice McMillan ran strong final leg for the Lady Tigers. The rest of the squad included Thea Dix, and Lisa Brown. The 4x1500m relay team of Sunday Ford, Dix, Lauren Klas, and McMillan finished runner-up Saturday. The group posted a time of 20:00.49.

The distance medley relay team of Klas, Ashley Vaughn, Johnson, and Ford finished runner-up Saturday after posting a time of 12:57.90. Ford made a move to pass College of Charleston in the final laps to secure the second-place effort.

In the high jump, freshman Anni Korhonen cleared the same height and tied for fourth. Katie Farnan tied for seventh at 5’1″.

Nakeisha Wineglass was runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 18’7.75″, while Barringer placed fifth at 18’1.75″. Helen Kirkland (no height) also competed for the Lady Tigers.

In the triple jump, Patricia Mamona posted a regional-qualifying mark by finishing second at 41’6″. She moved into fifth place on the Lady Tigers’ all-time list in the outdoor triple jump. Wineglass placed third with a personal best effort of 39’10.5″. Barringer was fifth at 37’8.75″.

Rochelle Kokayko posted a personal best in the hammer throw and won the title with a mark of 184’6″. Her previous best was 183’8″ as a freshman in 2006. She qualified for regionals with that effort. Catheryne Porter was third overall at 142’9″.

In her first-ever collegiate action, Bethanie Wachna finished runner-up in the javelin throw. She recorded a mark of 136’1″, which already ranks third in school history. She achieved the toss in the finals. Porter was second in the discus after a toss of 128’5″.

The Lady Tigers return to action next weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, GA.
