Lady Tigers Defeated, 78-54, By Missouri In Season Opener Friday Night

TEMPE, AZ – The Clemson women’s basketball team was defeated by the Missouri Tigers, 78-54, on Friday night in day one action at the WBCA/BTI Classic in Tempe, AZ. Sophomore Adrianne Bradshaw led the Lady Tigers with 16 points in the contest, while D’Lesha Lloyd contributed 11 for Clemson.

Bradshaw came off the bench for Head Coach Cristy McKinney and played 20 minutes in Friday’s game. She was 6-8 from the field and made four of five from the free-throw line. Bradshaw also contributed four rebounds in the losing effort. Clemson had five players record five rebounds on the night, and 12 players saw action in the game.

Missouri was led by Christelle N’Garsanet who had 17 points and 10 rebounds on the night. EeTisha Riddle had a team-high 13 rebounds in the victory.

Clemson started the game strong and held an 18-13 advantage before foul trouble hindered the team. Senior Amanda Frist scored six points within the first two minutes of the game but was forced to the sidelines after being called for her third foul. The Missouri Tigers scored 19 straight points while holding Clemson scoreless late in the first half to take a 36-21 lead. Missouri then took a 41-29 advantage into halftime.

The Lady Tigers came within seven points of Missouri early in the second half at 45-38, as Bradshaw completed a three-point play to narrow the gap for Clemson. However, the Missouri Tigers proved to be too strong for the Lady Tigers, winning the game 78-54.

The Lady Tigers will face the winner of Friday night’s contest between #17 Vanderbilt and #20 Arizona State at 6:00 Eastern time in the WBCA/BTI Classic’s final day of action.
