ANDERSON, SC-Chrissy Floyd scored 14 points and Amanda White had 13 points and 11 rebounds in leading Clemson to a 77-52 win over Grambling in a women’s intercollegiate basketball game at the Civic Center of Anderson in Anderson, SC Tuesday night. With the win, Clemson improves to 1-1 overall, while Grambling falls to 0-2 this season.
Floyd finished the game 6-15 from the field and had two steals. White was 6-8 from the floor and had five offensive boards in her11 rebound total. Clemson had 59 rebounds compared to Grambling’s 39.
Scherwanda Boston led Grambling in scoring with 10 points, and LaRuan Lindsey led Grambling with eight rebounds.
In the first half, Clemson took a 12-6 lead with 12:36 remaining as Maggie Slosser hit a jump shot. From this point, the Lady Tigers went on a 22-6 run and took a 34-12 advantage with 3:01 left in the first half as White hit a jumper from the inside. The Lady Tigers had a 36-12 lead at the half. Clemson maintained at least a 20-point lead in the second half, and built its largest lead of 30 points, 63-33 as Leah Roper converted a layup with 8:58 remaining in the game.
For the contest, Clemson shot 27-72 from the field for a .375 pct. Grambling shot 15-56 from the floor for a .268 mark. The Lady Tigers will play at Western Kentucky on Friday, November 29, at 7:00 p.m. in Clemson’s next action.
