Lady Tigers at Clemson Relays on Saturday

March 22, 2007

Clemson, SC – The Lady Tiger track & field team will participate in the Clemson Relays this Saturday at the Rock Norman Outdoor Complex. It is the second meet of the season for Clemson’s women, although this meet will feature significantly more competitors than Head Coach Marcia Noad took to Georgia last weekend.

Polly Hardy led the Lady Tiger effort last weekend with a regional-qualifying effort and first-place finish in the 100m hurdles. She is in that event again this weekend, at 12:30 PM. She will be joined by four Lady Tigers in that event.

Clemson will compete in a variety of relays Saturday, including the 4x100m at 12:55 PM. The group of Ra’Sheena Parker, Michaylin Golladay, and Kristine Scott posted a strong time last weekend and hope to improve on it slightly to regional standard level. The Lady Tigers will also participate in the 4x200m, 4x800m, 4x1500m, and distance medley relays.

Parker and Scott will make their first runs of the outdoor season in the 100m dash, which is scheduled for 1:55 PM. Both were the top indoor sprinters in the 60m for Clemson in the winter.

The field events are highlighted by four competitors each in the long jump and pole vault, and by three each in the high jump and triple jump. Patricia Mamona will compete in the triple jump, hoping to improve on her season-best mark set last weekend at the Georgia Relays. The triple jump is scheduled for 3:00 PM.

In the throws, Della Clark, an indoor All-American in the weight throw, is not scheduled to compete this weekend. Bethanie Wachna, a native of Canada, will make her first appearance as a Lady Tiger. She will throw the javelin at 10:00 AM.
