Lady Tiger Track & Field Plays Host to Clemson Invitational This Weekend

The Clemson women’s track & field team will play host to the Clemson Invitational this weekend at the Indoor Track & Field Facility on the Tiger campus. The event is set to get underway at 5:00 PM on Friday with the men’s distance medley relay and weight throw. The women begin at 5:20 PM in the distance medley relay on Friday. The triple jump and pole vault will highlight the beginning of competition on Saturday for the women.

Other teams competing in the meet will be Alabama, Auburn, Charlotte, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, and Virginia Tech.

The distance medley relay team will consist of Jenny Barton, Thea Dix, Patrice McMillan, and Casey Phillips. Competing at 6:00 Friday in the 60m hurdles will be Renata Miyamoto, and Michelle Rogers, Tonya Nwankwo, and Charmayne Smith. At 6:40 PM, the 60m trials will take place. Representing the Lady Tigers in that event will be Barringer, Nwankwo, Tia Perry, and Ope Sobanjo. Kerry Foltz, Ashley Robinson, and Maggie Zawaski will compete in the 5000m at 7:20 PM. Competing for Clemson in the weight throw Friday evening will be Della Clark, Krystal Woods.

On Saturday, the first women’s event is the triple jump and pole vault. Competing in the triple jump will be Rogers and Miyamoto, while Mary Armstrong, Beth Jordan, Helen Kirkland, and Krissy Thompson will compete in the pole vault for the Lady Tigers. Lauren Marriott will run the 3000m for the Lady Tigers at 3:25 PM. In the high jump, Felicia Hawthorne, and Anni Korhonen will compete. In the shot put, Clark and Allison Bradshaw will be in action Saturday at 1:00 PM. The final event of the day will be the 4x400m relay, which will consist of two teams from Clemson. The first team is composed of Hardy, Hill, Miyamoto, and Sobanjo. The Lady Tigers’ second team will be Dix, McMillan, Caroline Rash.

News
