The Clemson multi-event challenge will be held this weekend at the school’s indoor track & field complex. The event, formerly known as the Clemson Heptathlon/Pentathlon Championships, will be known as the JRF Multi-Event Challenge this season. The event was named in honor of Jarrett Ryan Foster, former men’s field events coach who was tragically killed last summer.
The pentathlon portion of the JRF meet will be held on Friday. The first event will be the 60m hurdles at 1:30 PM. At 2:10, thirteen participants in the pentathlon will compete in the high jump. The shot put will be held at 3:45, while the long jump (4:45) and 800m (6:00) will conclude the day’s five-event competition.
A pair of newcomers to the team will compete for Clemson this weekend. Linda Buchholz and Liane Weber, both natives of Germany, will see their first action in a collegiate pentathlon. Weber won the long jump competition two weeks ago at the Kentucky Invitational, while Buchholz owns top three Lady Tiger marks in the 60m hurdles, long jump, and shot put.
