Tallahassee, FL – Clemson’s women’s cross country team finished fifth out of 19 teams competing at the FSU Invitational on Saturday. The 5K event was run on the same course that will serve as the site of the ACC Championships next month. Host school Florida State won the event with 33 points. The Lady Tigers scored 156 points to finish in fifth place.
The leading runner for the Lady Tigers was once again Jennifer Barton, a senior from Toledo, OH. She finished the event with a time of 18:42.05. The individual winner was Angela Homan of Auburn, as she finished in a time of 17:38.25.
Casey Phillips continued her solid performances with a 33rd-place finish with a time of 19:16.11. She was followed by Ashley Robinson, a freshman, in 39th position. Robinson, who did not compete in the season-opening Gamecock Invitational, ran a time of 19:30.90. Finishing 42nd overall and in the fourth scoring position for Clemson was another freshman, Sunday Ford (19:34.00). Patrice McMillan completed the scoring for the Lady Tigers, as she finished 44th overall with a time of 19:37.09.
Candice Johnson did not score but ran a solid race at 19:44.52, finishing 52nd. Thea Dix (52nd place, 19:59.73) and Lauren Marriott (109th, 21:09.88) also competed for Clemson on Saturday.
