CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s basketball team will begin ACC play when it plays host to Virginia at 7:00 PM on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003 at The Civic Center of Anderson in Anderson, SC. The game will be Clemson’s last in Anderson, returning to the newly-renovated Littlejohn Coliseum for its next home game on Jan. 16 against North Carolina.
Virginia holds a 28-25 advantage in the series. Last season, the Lady Tigers won both contests, defeating the Cavaliers 79-68 at Virginia and 73-65 at home.
Clemson enters the game with an overall record of 8-3. Most recently, the Lady Tigers defeated Miami (OH) on the road, 55-50.
Senior guard Chrissy Floyd leads the Lady Tigers in scoring, averaging 18.1 points per game. Freshman center Amanda White leads the team in rebounding with an 8.1 rebounds-per-game average.
Freshman forward Khaili Sanders, second on the team in rebounding with a 6.6 rebounds-per-game average, won ACC Rookie of the Week honors on December 30, 2002. Against Auburn, Sanders was 8-16 from the field, scoring a career-high 17 total points. She pulled down 10 rebounds and tallied two blocked shots.
Virginia enters the game with a 5-5 overall record. The team is led in scoring by Cherrise Graham, who is averaging 15.7 points per game. Brandi Teamer leads the Cavaliers in rebounding, pulling down 6.7 rebounds per game.
