Kosgei Named USTFCCCA, ACC Cross Country Performer of the Week

CLEMSON, S.C. – Following her performance this past weekend at the adidas XC Challenge in Cary, N.C., sophomore Judy Kosgei was named the ACC Cross Country Female Performer of the Week and the USTFCCCA Division I Female Athlete of the Week as announced by both the conference office and the coaches association on Tuesday.

In her second meet for the Tigers, Kosgei dominated as she was the first runner to cross the finish line in the women’s 5k at the adidas XC Challenge.

Kosgei finished the race with a time of 16:11.1 and had an average pace of five minutes and 12 seconds. With help from the sophomore, the women earned a second place overall finish.

The South Carolina transfer has shined in her first season with the Tigers as she has finished in the top three in both races she has competed in this season.

This is the first time this season that a Tiger has earned a USTFCCCA weekly honor and marks the second week in-a-row that Clemson has earned an ACC weekly honor on the women’s side as Silvia Jelelgo was named the ACC Cross Country Female Performer and Freshman of the Week.

Up next, the Tigers will head to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the Live in Lou Classic on Saturday, October 5. For all the most up-to-date information regarding Clemson cross country, visit ClemsonTigers.com and follow @ClemsonTrackXC on Twitter and Instagram.
