ANN ARBOR, MI – Clemson women’s tennis standout Julie Coin advanced to the semi-finals of the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships before falling to California’s Suzi Babos in three sets. Coin captured a 6-3, 6-2 first-round victory over Shadisha Robinson of Georgia, then topped TCU’s Story Tweedie-Yates by a score of 6-3, 6-3 in the second round.
In the quarterfinals, Coin defeated Dea Sumantri of Washington by a score of 6-1, 6-2 before falling to Babos by a score of 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-4. The ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships completed the Tigers’ fall competition. Clemson will open the 2005 season on Jan. 29 with a noon match against Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA.
