IYAAB Constitution

Article 1 Name and Purpose

Section 1

The name of this organization shall be the Clemson University IPTAY Young Alumni Advisory Board.

Section 2

The objective of this organization is educational. Its purpose is: Provide the young alumni with a better understanding of the role of the IPTAY Scholarship Fund with a better understanding of the young alumni’s feelings when those feelings are directly related to the Scholarship Fund, and to help young alumni and the Scholarship Fund have a direct involvement with each other when possible.

Section 3

Method of Operation: Under the management of a group of officers, this organization shall receive operational funds from it’s parent organization, the IPTAY Scholarship Fund.
Article II Membership
Section 1 The Young Alumni Advisory Board will consist of 25 members.
Section 2 To become nominated for the IPTAY Young Alumni Advisory Board one must have been a member of the IPTAY Student Advisory Board, or an IPTAY Collegiate Club Representative. The nominee must also be 35 years of age or under.
Section 3 Once nominated it takes a 2/3 vote from all active members to become elected. Membership status for voting shall be conferred upon all members.
Section 4 Elections for new members will be held every February.
Section 5 The advisor for the IPTAY Young Alumni Advisory Board has the right to appoint up to five (5) new members each election time.
Section 6 Members may serve a two-year term.
Section 7 Advisor: The Associate Executive Secretary of IPTAY shall serve as the advisor for the board.
Article III Officers
Section 1 The officers shall be considered the Executive Committee and composed of the following: President, Vice-President, and Secretary.
Section 2 Election of the Officers: Officers shall be elected at the Fall meeting by the members of the board and appointed in the Spring.
Section 3 Duties of the officers:
  • President – Preside at all meetings and represent the board at all functions.
  • Vice-President – Represents the President in his absence.
  • Secretary – Keep the records of the organization.
Section 4 The Terms of the Officers- The officers shall serve for a term of one year. They are eligible for an officer position for no more than two consecutive terms.
Article IV Meetings

Section 1

Regular meetings: All members of this organization shall be required to attend all organizational meetings which will be quarterly throughout the year

Section 2

Called Meetings: The President can call a meeting of the board at any time. However, a seven-day notice must be given to each member.

Section 3

Attendance policy- each member is allowed no more than one (1) absence per year. If a member exceeds this number, without a valid excuse, they will automatically be dismissed from the board. Validation of the excuses will be determined by the IYAAB faculty advisor, the IYAAB President, and Vice-President.
Article V Committees
Section 1 Subcommittees shall be composed of the members and liaisons of the organization. Each Chairman and subcommittee shall be appointed by the Executive Committee and approval of the board.
Article VI Quorum
2/3 of the members of this organization shall constitute a quorum to transact business, as decided by the organization.
Article VII Amending the Constitution
Section 1 The constitution may be amended at any meeting of the board in which 2/3 of the voting members are present. This meeting will have been announced at least one week prior.
Section 2 A constitutional amendment shall pass by a 2/3 vote of the total voting members present.
Article VIII Ratification
A 2/3 majority of those present at the first meeting will be necessary to ratify this Constitution.
