IPTAY 2017 is nearing the halfway point, and the giving deadline for your gift to qualify for income tax purposes is quickly approaching. You should have received information about your IPTAY 2017 membership that included your adjusted seat value minimum for those that purchased football season tickets.
When making your donation, please keep in mind that if you typically mail in your donation form with a credit card number, your gift may not be processed by the December 31 deadline due to the university holiday schedule. Credit cards processed after the end of the year, regardless of the postage date, will be considered a calendar year 2017 charitable contribution by the IRS.
There are five convenient options for making your gift to IPTAY:
You are encouraged to visit ClemsonTigers.com/IPTAY to make your pledge and donation towards that annual commitment. This secure website accepts all major credit cards and is the best option to make certain your transaction is complete by 11:59 p.m., on December 31.
Donations made via check should be mailed to IPTAY; P.O. Box 1529; Clemson, SC 29633. Unlike credit cards, gifts via check can be considered in the 2016 calendar year for tax purposes if they are postmarked on or before Dec. 31, 2016, even if they processed in the 2017 calendar year.
To complete your gift by phone, call 864-656-2115 or 1-800-CLEMSON. The university will be closed for the holidays after 4:30 p.m., on Friday, December 23 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 3.
To hand-deliver your gift, come to the IPTAY office, located at 1 Avenue of Champions in Clemson, S.C., from 8 a.m., to 4:30 p.m., from Monday through Friday or after hours using the night deposit box located to the left of the IPTAY Center front doors.
To make a gift of stock to IPTAY, contact Blake Beckwith at the Clemson University Foundation. Beckwith can be reached at 864-656-5656 or blbeckw@clemson.edu. Gifts of stock must be received by the foundation by the close of business on Friday, December 23. Please plan accordingly, keeping in mind that the transfer process can take several days.
You will receive an email from our office in late January 2017 for gifts made in calendar year 2016. This email will provide you with all the donations made to IPTAY for the calendar year 2016 that may be used as a tax deduction. Be sure to consult a tax professional to make certain these donations are properly considered when completing your tax returns.
